ABOUT ME

Resume

Hello, my name is Kylie Spears.

As a resident of over 34 years, I'm re-standing for Council because I am passionate about making our

local community a better place to live, work and play for all residents.

I seek your support to continue doing this and encourage you to VOTE 1 for me, your independent

candidate for Wombolano.

My husband, Malcolm and I have two wonderful daughters, Caitlin and Aimee.

I have community service experience, within and beyond the Maroondah Community, inspired by the

example set by my own parents. My Mum was a Councillor for 17 years and Shire President 3 times from

1977-1994.

Volunteering to make a difference is an integral part of who I am.

I have been part of the School Education boards, Parent and Fair committees at both the girls Primary and Secondary schools.

I became involved in our local Netball Association – Melbourne East in 2007 and have continued that involvement to today. I have been President of the Association 2009-2020.  Being made a Life Member and receiving funding for the new stadium in 2016 has been some of the many highlights.

In 2020 I was elected to the Board of Netball Victoria.

I have successfully run my own local Swim School for the last 17 years and am passionate about helping children and adults develop a lifelong love of swimming and water safety.

The skills and strengths necessary for successful private business endeavours, are the same and likewise essential qualities which an effective Councillor must possess. From vision, innovation and creativity to sustain a competitive edge in the marketplace; to leadership and supervision over personnel; and to insight and analysis necessary for profit and financial health, I bring all these skills and strengths to Council.

In my terms on Council I have become known for my attention to detail, collegiate approach, passion and inclusion of all Maroondah residents. I have developed excellent working relationships with my fellow Councillor’s, our CEO, Directors, Council Staff and with all levels of government, which is important for our advocacy platform. I am approachable, responsive and dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for Wombolano ratepayers.

During my time on Council so far, I have been fortunate to work on the following committees with Maroondah residents, my fellow Councillors, Maroondah Council staff,  the Eastern Metropolitan group of councils and Councillor’s from across the State.
